Pineapple Mint

Plant Name: Pineapple Mint
Other Names: Mentha suaveolens 'Variegata'

Description: The leaves are outlined in white. It's hairier than the other mint. When you use your fingers to gently rub the leaf, there is a distinctive pineapple smell.

Uses: You can use them in beverages.

Cultivation: Fairly easy to grow pineapple mint. I placed my pineapple mint under full sun and grew pretty well. I water the plant twice a day. Make sure that the soil is well drained.

Indian Borage

Plant Name: Indian Borage
Other Names: Mexican Mint

Description: The stems are thicker than normal mint, even though they are the same mint family. It has a very strong pizza smell.

Uses: Apparently, the leaves are good for people coughing. I tried a couple of months back, using the leaves to make into hot tea, and amazingly, the urge to cough is gone! They can also be used as a flavoring to meat dishes.

Cultivation: Indian Borage doesn't tolerate over-watering. I used to water twice a day, but the stem rot (turn to black), so cut down on the watering part. They prefer semi-shaded area.

Propagation: by stem cuttings
